Bachelor Program in Biology

Graduates have the ability to conduct research using scientific methods to advance knowledge, find solutions to problems, and search for literature, collect and process data, write, and present research findings. They are also able to apply biological principles to develop business models based on biodiversity and have experience in processing raw or semi-finished materials into value-added products.

Visions of the Study Program

Developing a center for biology studies that focuses on tropical biodiversity in Indonesia and fosters an innovative and independent socio-biopreneurial spirit at the global level.

Mission of the Study Program

To enhance the expansion and equitable access to learning, research, and services in the field of biology both within and outside the USK environment, supported by an accountable and transparent laboratory governance system and institutional framework.

To provide education, research, and community service oriented towards the management, development, and utilization of Biological Natural Resources, in order to produce graduates who are capable of competing in the digital and global era.

To produce outstanding, independent, diligent, creative, and innovative graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit (biopreneurs) and integrity in developing and applying biological sciences that benefit society, the nation, and the state.

To improve regional, national, and international cooperation in the study and application of biological sciences focused on biodiversity for the welfare of global society.

Objectives of the Study Program

To possess a strong foundational knowledge of biological sciences, particularly in the study, management, development, and utilization of biological natural resources.

To have the ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems scientifically. To embody independence, innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity in creating opportunities, especially in areas of interest and expertise.

To possess the ability to compete and adapt in facing various changes related to the digital and global era.

Students Feedback

Being a student in the Biology Department at FMIPA USK has been a significant achievement for which I am very grateful. Throughout my undergraduate and master's studies, I gained valuable knowledge that has shaped me into a responsible researcher. I built lasting relationships with dedicated professors and thrived in a supportive academic environment. Now, as a doctoral student receiving the DbR Platform for Terrestrial Biodiversity Expedition scholarship organized by BRIN, I recognize this opportunity as a direct result of the Biology Department's influence, especially my advisor, Prof. Syaukani.

Studying in the Department of Biology at FMIPA USK has been a significant achievement in my life, offering numerous academic and non-academic learning opportunities. From the first semester, I learned the fundamentals of biology, including General Biology, Botany, Zoology, Ecology, and Microbiology, with a well-structured course that combines theory and practical lab experience. The department also supports student organizations like HMB, enhancing soft skills through seminars and workshops. Overall, my education has fostered critical thinking and prepared me for research, industry, and education.

Nurjanah, S. Si

Recipient of the LPDP scholarship through the pre-prosperity pathway

I joined the Department of Biology at FMIPA in 2016 and am currently pursuing my Master's degree at the University of Manchester in England. My four years of undergraduate studies at FMIPA taught me valuable lessons beyond just laboratory research skills. I discovered a vast learning environment that included everything from microscopic objects to larger organisms. Additionally, I interned at a prestigious research institution during my thesis, which fueled my interest in medical biology. Overall, my experience has empowered me to dream big and aim higher.
