Banda Aceh, Indonesia – The Undergraduate Biology Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala, has successfully achieved the prestigious “Excellent” (Unggul) Accreditation status from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA).

According to LAMSAMA Decree No. 152/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/V/2026, the Biology Study Program has been awarded the highest accreditation rating, Excellent (Unggul), valid for a period of five years from May 29, 2026, to May 28, 2031. This achievement reflects the program’s commitment to maintaining high standards in education, research, community engagement, and academic governance.

The Head of the Biology Study Program, Prof. Dr. Lenni Fitri, S.Si., MP, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to this accomplishment.

“Receiving the Excellent Accreditation is a significant milestone for our study program. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts and dedication of our academic community, including faculty members, administrative staff, students, alumni, and partners. It serves as both a recognition of our quality and a motivation to continuously enhance our academic and research excellence,” she stated.

The Excellent Accreditation recognizes the Biology Study Program’s strong performance across various quality indicators, including curriculum development, teaching and learning processes, faculty qualifications, research productivity, community service, student achievements, graduate outcomes, and institutional partnerships.

Over the past several years, the Biology Study Program has implemented continuous improvements through the adoption of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), strengthening laboratory facilities, increasing research and publication outputs, expanding national and international collaborations, and fostering student participation in scientific competitions and academic activities at both national and international levels.

This achievement further strengthens the position of the Biology Study Program as one of the leading life science programs in Indonesia. It is also expected to enhance public trust, expand opportunities for academic and research collaborations, and increase the competitiveness of its graduates in the global workforce.

With the Excellent Accreditation valid until 2031, the Biology Study Program of FMIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala remains committed to pursuing continuous quality improvement and innovation in education, research, and community service. The program aims to produce highly competent, innovative, and globally competitive graduates who can contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement and sustainable development.
