Banda Aceh, 6 February 2025 — The Laboratory of Structure and Development, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), welcomed an educational visit from students of SDIT Al-Latif. The visit aimed to provide hands-on learning experiences on the anatomy of the human digestive and skeletal systems.

A total of 20 students, accompanied by their teachers, actively participated in the interactive learning session guided by lecturers and laboratory assistants. The activity began with a visual presentation introducing the basics of the digestive system and skeletal structure. The students then had the opportunity to observe anatomical specimens under a microscope and explore anatomical models available in the laboratory.

“This visit gives students a more tangible learning experience, allowing them to understand anatomical concepts directly rather than only reading from textbooks,” said one of the accompanying teachers from SDIT Al-Latif.

In addition to observation, students were given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with the supervising lecturers. Their enthusiasm was evident, especially when identifying different parts of the human skeleton and understanding the functions of digestive organs. Several students took notes and discussed their observations with peers to deepen their understanding.

The Head of the Laboratory of Structure and Development, Dr. Amalia, M.Si, expressed that such visits are expected to foster scientific curiosity in students from an early age.

“We are always open to educational activities like this, as it is important for the younger generation to scientifically understand how the human body works,” she stated.

The teachers also expressed appreciation to the Department of Biology, USK, for providing their students with the opportunity to experience learning in a university laboratory. One teacher added that such activities greatly help students grasp biological concepts that are often difficult to explain through theory alone.

The visit concluded with a reflection session, during which students shared their impressions and learning experiences in the laboratory. Several students expressed interest in exploring science further and hoped to participate in similar activities in the future.

Through this program, it is expected that students from SDIT Al-Latif will become more interested in the field of science and biology, as well as develop an early understanding of the importance of maintaining bodily health. The Biology Department of FMIPA USK remains committed to supporting public education through scientific outreach and academic visits. The laboratory also plans to host more educational programs for students of various levels in order to enhance scientific literacy among younger generations.
